About our Digital team

We work closely with the people we support to enhance the provisions and services through a digital-first approach.

Our mission is to reduce social isolation. We want to foster connections and friendships for people with learning disabilities in a safe and accessible way.

We work closely with other organisations, from local authorities to housing associations. These partnerships help us to share ideas and collaborate to promote digital inclusion across Wales.

In 2019, we developed Insight, the free social community app designed for adults with learning disabilities in the UK.

We also set up the first supported living smart home for adults with disabilities in Cardiff in 2019 in partnership with First Choice Housing Association, using mainstream off the shelf technologies.

Innovate Trust’s digital inclusion projects provide opportunities for supported people to gain new skills, increase independence, and support social connections.

Our Digital Inclusion Charter pledge and commitment

All employees and volunteers have an opportunity to develop basic digital skills and that they take advantage of this opportunity.

Digital inclusion principles are embedded into our day-to-day activities, and we support the role digital tools have in managing health and wellbeing.

We encourage and support our employees and volunteers to help others get online. We ensure they have the confidence to develop basic digital skills and help other organisations to embrace digital tools.

We commit support and resources for digital inclusion activities and initiatives in Wales are made available in whatever ways we can, to ensure every person can engage digitally (if they choose).

Best practices and activities around digital inclusion are shared with the Digital Communities Wales – Digital Confidence, Health and Wellbeing programme so that our activities are coordinated for maximum impact and measured consistently.

We build partnerships with local organisations which want to share ideas and coordinate activities with others in their area.

We are committed to ending digital exclusion and are a digital charter-accredited organisation.
