About the project

Launched in January 2024, the Volunteer Hub project is building a vibrant online space within our Insight app, designed specifically for adults with learning disabilities. We are on a mission to make volunteering accessible and empowering, by:

  • Showcasing the benefits: Dive into easy-to-read articles and engaging videos that highlight the joys and personal growth that come with volunteering.
  • Building essential skills: Discover practical tips and resources to hone your skills, build confidence, and navigate the volunteering landscape with ease.
  • Sharing inspiring stories: Celebrate the achievements and experiences of individuals with learning disabilities who are making a difference through volunteering.

We are partnering with volunteers with learning disabilities in Cardiff, The Vale, Rhondda Cynon Taf, and online. Through monthly sessions, they’re shaping the content and design of the Volunteer Hub, ensuring it truly reflects their needs and aspirations. Whether you have volunteered before or want to know more, the Volunteer Hub will have everything you need. We believe everyone has something to contribute, regardless of experience or support requirements. Come join us and experience the joy of volunteering!

To fill the Volunteer Hub with endless possibilities, we are reaching out to organisations across Wales. We encourage them to share their volunteering opportunities, making it easier for individuals with learning disabilities to find their perfect match. To ensure a truly inclusive experience, we are developing resources for organisations to encourage best practices in supporting adults with learning disabilities through volunteering.

Project activities include, but are not limited to

  • Creating videos on your volunteering story
  • Accessing volunteering opportunities through the Volunteering Hub
  • One off volunteer hub testing sessions
  •

You will

  • learn about digital technology
  • learn about inclusion and accessibility
  • meet new people
  • improve your volunteering skills
  • help other people to enjoy volunteering
