Accessible Sailing

Our accessible sailing sessions are a popular activity based in Cardiff Bay. Sessions are mainly accessed by people Innovate Trust supports in Cardiff, the Vale of Glamorgan, and Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Thanks to our partnership with the Cardiff Harbour Authority, our accessible sailing sessions run every year through Spring until the end of Summer.

About Accessible Sailing

With sessions running every Wednesday throughout the spring and summer, our accessible sailing teaches participants some basics of sailing in our boats, which are safe, stable, and perfect for beginners!

There is plenty of wildlife around and in the river for people to appreciate, while also seeing Cardiff from another point of view.

We have a manual hoist on the pontoon, which allows wheelchair users to enjoy the activity.

In addition to this, we also work with Sense to offer opportunities to people with more complex impairments.

Most people who access our accessible sailing sessions are individuals who use wheelchairs and have more complex needs.

Some people enjoy the sensory element, while others are keen to develop their sailing skills each week.

A big thanks

We could not run our accessible sailing sessions without support from our amazing volunteers.

Their dedication and commitment to making a welcoming and inclusive environment makes the world of a difference.
