Accessible Sailing
Our accessible sailing sessions in Cardiff Bay are designed for adults with learning disabilities and additional needs.
With a trained team, adapted boats, and a calm, supportive environment, sailing is a great way to enjoy the outdoors, build confidence and try something new.
Thanks to our partnership with the Cardiff Harbour Authority, our accessible sailing sessions run every year through Spring until the end of Summer.
What is accessible sailing?
Accessible sailing helps people with learning disabilities enjoy being on the water in a way that feels safe and welcoming.
With sessions running every Wednesday throughout the spring and summer, our accessible sailing teaches participants some basics of sailing in our boats.
Our boats are stable and suitable for beginners, and sessions focus on enjoyment, confidence and sensory experiences as well as basic sailing skills.
Our accessible sailing sessions are a popular activity based in Cardiff Bay. Sessions are mainly accessed by people Innovate Trust supports in Cardiff, the Vale of Glamorgan, and Rhondda Cynon Taf.
There is plenty of wildlife around and in the river for people to appreciate, while also seeing Cardiff from another point of view.
