About the project
The Digital solutions project offers mainstream technological solutions to maximise the independence of citizens with learning disabilities at risk of digital exclusion and social isolation. A joint pilot was created around investigating and piloting mainstream technological solutions to maximise the independence of citizens with learning disabilities across the region of Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
The project involves working in collaboration to identify those who require additional support to be digitally included as well as supporting professionals in the development of new tools providing professionals with the ability to recommend mainstream technology alternatives to increase independence, well-being and quality of life for citizens.

Statistics
Innovate Trust has collaborated with Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan Local Authorities, enabling the application to reach more vulnerable adults within the health and social care sector. Innovate Trust provides direct support to individuals in RCT, Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. We also connect with vulnerable adults across the social care sector by collaborating with other social care providers and developing our own community projects. A survey completed by our Insight App members highlighted 34.6% of individuals had never used social media until joining the App and 23.1% had never used the Internet. Insight was created to provide a social environment for individuals to share their daily lives, activities and experiences through photos and messages to their families and social care professionals. By the end of March 2020, Innovate Trust had gifted devices to 275 people across Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan to help bridge the divide of digital isolation and inclusion. Through the development of the Insight App, 92.3% of its members felt that the App helped them to be digitally included. When asked what their favourite thing about the App, 57% of members stated having a community presence, creating new relationships and having the opportunity to engage in online events.
