Arts and Welsh heritage: a new partnership with the Open Uni

Innovate Trust is part of a brand-new partnership led by the Open University, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

This is for an exciting new project led by the Open University. The intention is to develop a heritage and creative arts project that supports people in various parts of Wales to explore their connections with the histories of their local areas and communities. This includes the people we support in Cardiff, Rhondda Cynon Taf and the Vale of Glamorgan.

The funding is for the initial development stage of the project. This will help to map out what happens in the next stage.

This could include

  • creative writing
  • music
  • the visual arts
  • history workshops
  • heritage trips

Wales has a rich history and some wonderful places to hold activities. From St Fagan’s National Museum of History to the National Museum of Cardiff and Caer Heritage Hidden Hillfort.

For this project, we will be working with people in person and online. We intend to set up a new group on our community app, Insight dedicated to the project. Information will also be available at our in-person events led by our Participation team, where there will be opportunities for our members to contribute their ideas for the next stage.

We look forward to working with the Open University on this project that will help people to learn more about their past and the history around them.
