Over the past year at Innovate Trust, we have been working on developing our commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. Whilst we still have a long way to go, we have been making progress in this area by putting in place important policies, publicising organisational statements, celebrating awareness days/weeks/months and setting up and developing networks that are important to our employees. Next year, we aim to work with our Race/Ethnicity Network to organise an event for Black History Month.
What are we doing at Innovate Trust to celebrate Black History Month and work towards Race Equality?
- Spotlighting the achievements of notable Black Welsh people in upcoming posts on our internal platform and social media.
- Donating to local charities – Race Equality First and Race Council Cymru.
Please look into these organisations as we think they do amazing work! - Encouraging our employees to read ‘A Brief History of the Civil Rights Movement in the UK’.
- Setting up a Race/Ethnicity Network with Ron Woods (Director).
We are looking for new members and all employees are welcome to join (including allies)!
Please contact Eleri.Cruchley-Jones@innovate-trust.org.uk and Ron.Woods@innovate-trust.org.uk if you would like to join. - We’re working on creating an Equality Impact Assessment template so that we can assess our policies to ensure they are inclusive of all protected characteristics, including race.
- Making employees and the wider Innovate Trust community aware our Anti-Racism Statement on our website.
Any feedback is welcome, please contact Eleri.Cruchley-Jones@innovate-trust.org.uk and Ron.Woods@innovate-trust.org.uk with your comments or concerns. - Aiming to have a more representative workforce, by guaranteeing interviews to all job applicants from minority ethnic backgrounds who meet the minimum requirements of the job as set out in the Job Description and Person Specification.
