Innovate Trust Peer-Led Team wins ‘Excellence in Facilitating Activities’ at Mirror Awards

We are so proud to announce that the Innovate Trust Peer-Led Team has won the Mirror Award for ‘Excellence in Facilitating Activities’ for their outstanding work on the Insight App.

This award is a wonderful testament to a group of dedicated individuals who give their time to ensure no one feels isolated, proving that digital spaces can create deeply meaningful, real-world connections.

The Peer-Led team grew organically alongside the popularity of our Insight app. During the pandemic in 2020, everyone was feeling lost, and for many people supported by Innovate Trust, the app gave a sense of connection and a way to still see friends and be involved. It also became a vital tool for our different teams to still deliver activities, learning, and social groups.

The Peer-Led team have continued this model, consistently delivering online activities for those who enjoyed meeting up in this digital way, and those unable to leave the house easily or independently.  The team help to deliver;

Accessible activities: Planning fun, interactive sessions to run directly through the app.

Social events: Creating spaces where people can gather, chat, and form lasting friendships.

Shared passions: Helping members link up with like-minded peers to discuss the topics and hobbies they care about most.

Whether someone is looking for a new hobby, trying to make friends, or just needs a listening ear and some friendly advice, the Peer-Led Team ensures there is always a welcoming digital space to turn to.

What are the mirror awards?

The Mirror Awards are held by All Wales People First to promote self advocacy. They recognise initiatives that make a genuine difference in the community. For our team, this award is a wonderful validation of their hard work and the life-changing impact the Insight app has on people with learning disabilities nationwide.

To receive this Mirror Award is a wonderful piece of recognition for our volunteers. It will serve to motivate and inspire new ideas and activities as the Insight app continues to grow in popularity and usage.

A massive thank you!

As an organisation, Innovate Trust wants to say a massive thank you to our entire Peer-Led Team. Thank you for your creativity, your generosity, and your commitment to making the digital world a kinder, more connected place.

We also extend our sincere gratitude to the Mirror Awards for recognising the vital importance of peer-led support.
