We are delighted to announce that our Insight app is shortlisted for the 2026 Social Care Wales Accolades in the Effective Use of Digital and Technology category.
The Accolades are Wales’s national awards for celebrating excellence in social care, childcare, play and early years.
They shine a light on inspirational projects and organisations that make a meaningful difference to people’s lives.
This year’s competition saw a record 141 entries from across Wales, making Insight’s nomination an especially proud achievement for our team and the communities we support.
A digital community helping people connect, learn and thrive
Our Insight app is a free social community app designed with and for adults with learning disabilities and additional support needs. Launched nationally after being co‑produced with people we support, Insight provides a safe and accessible alternative to mainstream social media.
Members use Insight to:
- stay connected with friends
- join online and in-person activities
- take part in creative workshops, sport and social gatherings
- find accessible volunteering opportunities
- build confidence and digital skills
- reduce loneliness through regular, meaningful engagement
More than 2,000 people across the UK now use Insight every day.
We host over 80 weekly activities, including creative sessions, sports, relaxation, quizzes, discussion groups and social meet‑ups.
Many of these activities are led by members, giving people greater independence and leadership opportunities.
Co-produced and community driven
Insight began in 2019 as a pilot project focused on digital inclusion in supported living.
Adults with learning disabilities helped shape how the app looks, how it works and what features matter most.
Their feedback transformed it into the wider community platform it is today.
Insight has since grown to include a Volunteering Hub, allowing members to explore opportunities, share their experiences and take on leadership roles.
More than 120 organisations across the UK now use Insight to connect with people with learning disabilities in a safe and supportive digital space.
Tackling digital exclusion head-on
Many Insight members previously had limited access to devices, connectivity or digital confidence. Innovate Trust addressed this by:
- providing recycled devices through donations and grants
- accessing the National Databank for free mobile data
- supporting organisations to help their members join the app
- running online training and digital inclusion sessions
As a result, hundreds of people who were once digitally excluded now log in daily to learn new skills, meet new friends and feel part of a community.
Recognition for real impact
Insight’s nomination reflects its wide-reaching social impact, including:
- improving mental health and reducing isolation
- growing leadership and volunteering opportunities
- strengthening digital skills and confidence
- fostering friendships across Wales and beyond
- empowering adults with learning disabilities to take control of their social lives
The app previously won the Healthy Working Wales Best Covid-19 Company Response award for keeping people connected during the pandemic. Today’s Accolades nomination marks another significant milestone in its journey.
A moment of pride for the Innovate Trust community
We are incredibly proud of everyone involved in Insight’s development.
We want to thank everyone who made this achievement possible — our members, volunteers, partner organisations and teams.
Your ideas, energy and enthusiasm continue to shape Insight into a positive, supportive and inclusive space.
What happens next?
Social Care Wales will announce the winners at the Accolades ceremony on Thursday, the 2nd of July 2026 at the Parkgate Hotel in Cardiff.
Regardless of the outcome, reaching the finals already shows the strength, creativity and impact of the Insight community.
