Relationship and Sexuality group

Our peer relationship and sexuality workshops provide a safe and supportive space for people with learning disabilities to access relationship and sexuality education.

These workshops are possible thanks to the National Lottery Community Fund and Vale of Glamorgan Local Authority funding.

About our Relationship and Sexuality group

Our relationship and sexuality group sessions are relaxed and fun, with lots of time and space for questions to be asked, and discussions started.

The relationship and sexuality workshops are a 12-week programme that keep coming back for more!

Our participants enjoy the topics, and love learning about maintaining healthy friendships and relationships.

Everyone supports and encourages each other to learn, share stories, and receive peer support to help develop healthy relationships and friendships.

Our relationship and sexuality workshops

Our peer-led workshops provide relationship education for people with learning disabilities, focusing on topics that are important to them.

By co-designing our workshops with participants, we ensure that we are tailoring our sessions to the specific needs and interests of the group.

Workshop activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing and maintaining healthy romantic and sexual relationships
  • Understanding our bodies
  • Contacting and texting friends and partners
  • Dealing with jealousy and negative feelings
  • Sexuality
  • Sex and masturbation

Just ask Cupid

In collaboration with the people Innovate Trust support, and Innovate Trust’s relationship and sexuality group members, we have created a series of videos for people with learning disabilities on the topics of relationships and friendships.

Our 4-part series includes:

  • Healthy and unhealthy relationship habits
  • Texting too much – how many messages?
  • Dealing with jealousy (the green eyed monster)
  • Dealing with first date nerves
