Luna sound healing and holistic therapies in Cardiff and Rhondda Cynon Taf

Supporting the wellbeing of our community is at the heart of everything we do at Innovate Trust.

Whether it is yoga, music, dance, or time spent in nature, the activities that encourage us to step back and recharge are more popular than ever.

Since 2024, one activity in particular continues to capture the hearts of the individuals we support in Rhondda Cynon Taf (and soon to be Cardiff!): Luna sound healing and holistic therapies with Avril.

Avril, a sound bath practitioner, stands behind a wooden table holding a mallet. On the table are several frosted white crystal singing bowls of various sizes, along with chimes and a handheld drum, prepared for a sound healing session.

Avril’s practice is based in Miskin Manor’s Wellness Centre, but she joins us to run sessions for our community every week in Pontyclun.

What started as a trial has blossomed into one of our most popular weekly activities. The success of these sessions is a combination of our passionate Participation Officer, Naomi Pellett, our participants for engaging so enthusiastically, and Avril’s expertise and ability to connect with the individuals we support.

As a champion for all things wellbeing, Naomi recognises the deep impact that sound baths and vibrational healing can have on our physical, emotional , and spiritual health.

An assortment of sound healing instruments rests on a wooden table, featuring seven frosted white crystal singing bowls of various sizes. Beside them are a handheld drum, several mallets, bamboo chimes, and small dishes containing polished healing stones and crystals.

What is a sound bath?

During a session, Avril uses a variety of spiritual and vibrational tools to create a landscape of sound.

By blending singing bowls, a crystal pyramid, Kochi chimes, a hand drum, and a large gong, Avril creates an immersive “bath” of music.

These sounds vibrate at different levels and frequencies that link with our body’s chakra system, allowing us to connect on a spiritual, emotional, and physical level.

Bringing harmony and peace to our sessions

These sounds and vibrations are more than calming sounds – they bring all kinds of benefits.

From aligning to cleansing inner energy, many participants find that Avril’s sessions bring a sense of harmony and peace.

It is a proven way to help with grounding and lowering anxieties.

You only have to experience the silence and engagement within the group, and the smiles after to see and feel the positive benefits the sound baths bring.

Oh, I love it, I do. I love the journey Avril takes us on, talking about animals and colours. I feel so relaxed after.

A journey for the mind

Along with the sound therapy, Avril takes participants on a calm and descriptive meditative journey.

This journey provides sometimes what is a much needed escape from the pressures of busy home and social lives.

For many in our community it is a tool for calming anxiety and finding a moment of pure stillness.

Sound bath from the comfort of your home

We see the difference Avril’s sound bath sessions make for attendees. And we want everyone to benefit from Avril’s expertise, even if they cannot attend in person.

Members of our Insight app can access an hour-long pre-recorded sound bath session.

This session is designed to offer an accessible alternative to Avril’s in-person sessions for those who are unable to leave their homes, or cannot attend because of distance.

This can be accessed anytime for those who wish to take some time out for themselves at home.

The sessions also feature a very special guest: Nom, Avril’s beautiful dog.

Nom has become a beloved member of the group, providing an extra layer of comfort and joy to everyone who attends.

Attendees of Avirl's sound bath sessions are shown sitting quietly with eyes closed, some with their heads bowed, focused on the auditory and vibrational experience.

It's just so relaxing, and I love it when Avril brings Nom the dog!

Expanding to Cardiff: Join Us at St Fagans

We are delighted to announce that Avril is launching a brand-new regular session with us!

We are expanding Avril’s sound bath sessions to St Fagans, Cardiff.

This is a wonderful opportunity for even more people we support to experience the calming benefits of sound healing firsthand.

A word from Avril

Avril’s passion for her work is clear the moment you walk into the room. On her experience working with Innovate Trust, she says:

I truly love working with this group and bringing these benefits to people who might not otherwise have the chance to experience sound healing. It is wonderful to see the benefits spread across the community and to meet so many lovely people along the way. I’m so excited to introduce these sessions to even more people as we expand into Cardiff!
