Morgan’s Take Charge Story

Morgan from Take Charge

Hello, my name is Morgan and this is my story. I live in the Cadoxton area of Barry. When I lived in England I studied Introduction to Work; one thing we did was presentations. I had work experience in the post room at college in 2003. After that I studied animal care, there were exotics, birds, small rodents and farm animals. I was there for a couple of years and got an NVQ and a First Diploma – my favourite animals were the snakes. I did work experience at places like vets centres, shops and garden centres.

I used to volunteer at Cosmeston with Green Days, starting three years ago. We did all sorts of work like cutting back hedges, litter picks and painting. We had a barbeque at the end of the project.

Since then I have been volunteering in Porthkerry, we’ve been doing litter picks, made a log circle, sawing, cutting back hedges and bonfires. We’ve learned what to look out for, what is safe and what is dangerous and working as a team. I prefer working in a team, it gets things done quicker. I have done Heart Start training here.

I also volunteer at Cwm Talwg woods with Anne on Sundays, and I go to Valeways on Thursdays. For the next few weeks I’m doing a cookery course with the Integrated Autism Service, things like how to make pizza, how to make soup.

In the future I would like to learn more about computers, and other training like maybe health and safety.
