Earlier this month, we were delighted to attend the second Success Through Skills Awards.

The event was hosted by training providers ACT and ALS at Cardiff and Vale College.

At Innovate Trust, we believe that everyone deserves the chance to grow, learn, and reach their full potential.

The evening is a fantastic celebration of the learners, tutors, and employers who are truly championing work-based learning across Wales.

Why training and development matters to us

For us, professional development is about more than just gaining a certificate.

It is a powerful way to create a meaningful career.

Focusing on learning helps our team members feel confident in their roles. This ensures we provide the very best support to the people we serve and beyond.

A personalised way of learning

We know that every member of our team has different skills and goals. Every member of our team brings a unique set of skills and aspirations to their role.

Because of this, we have worked hard to create a bespoke training programme. This means our training is tailored specifically to the needs of our employees.

By creating these individual pathways, we make sure everyone at Innovate Trust has the tools they need for a long-term career while providing the highest standard of support to our community.

Gold for training and qualifications

It was an honour to be recognised during the ceremony, where Innovate Trust received the Gold Award for Large Employer.

While we are proud of the award, we see it as a reflection of the hard work of our entire teams in gaining their qualifications. For us, the event was a valuable reminder of why we invest so heavily in training.

This recognition belongs to everyone at Innovate Trust – from our Training and Development Department to every learner balancing their daily work with their studies.

Representing Innovate Trust at the ceremony were Nick French (CEO), Donna Miller (Manager of Employee Development), Kieran Vass (Health and Safety Development Manager), and Lisa French (Participation Manager). They attended on behalf of our qualification lead, Sue Hatch (Training and Development Officer) and all our dedicated learners.

Investing in the future of Wales

ACT’s Success Through Skills Awards event, hosted by journalist Will Hayward, featured 14 award categories.

The evening was also an opportunity to look at the “bigger picture” of work-based learning.

Innovate Trust was also honoured for our commitment to upskilling our workforce and for offering valuable opportunities to learners across the organisation.

Lisa Mytton, Strategic Director for the National Training Federation for Wales, and an independent judge for the awards, delivered a moving speech on why these pathways are so vital for the collective future of Wales.

Events like this shine a light on what really drives Wales forward – the talent, commitment and ambition of our learners, employers, and training providers

Looking ahead

At Innovate Trust, our mission is built on promoting opportunity and supporting people to achieve their full potential.

Seeing so many people working toward a more skilled and inclusive future for Wales was truly inspiring.

We remain committed to this journey, ensuring our team has the support they need to make a lasting difference.
